The woman, wearing a broad-brimmed sunhat, is Elespie Prior, with her youngest daughter on her knee. The original painting, an oil, shows the artist's garden at Waikanae. It was exhibited in Evelyn Page: seven decades, a touring exhibition, 1986-1987, when it belonged to Dr Ian and Mrs Elespie Prior Edition: published in an edition of 500 signed copies.
