Description: Medallion issued around 1982-1983, commemorating the voyage of two Russian oceanographic vessels, "Admiral Vladimirsky" and "Faddei Bellinsgauzen," which repeated the routes of the first Russian Antarctic expeditions led by F.F. Bellinsgauzen and M.P. Lazarev 1819-1821. The submarine group completed the expedition in forty-seven days of being under ice. The obverse of the medal shows two ships traversing a map of Antarctica and the sea surrounding it, with the southern parts of Australia, New Zealand, and South America around the edges. Medallion, on reverse: "Russkaya antarkicheskaya ekspeditsiya: 'Vostok', 'Mirnii', 1819-1821". Shows two sailing ships in Antarctic waters with penguins on an icefloe in the foreground.
