Description: Photographs, possibly taken by Margaret Parry between 1966-1974 of royal visits, marae gatherings, cultural performances, award ceremonies, speeches, and other formal group occasions. Dame Te Arikinui Te Atairangikaahu and Turangawaewae marae feature in many of the photographs. Photographs also show New Zealand Prime Minister Norman Kirk, Sir Kingi Ihaka, First Lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos; and royalty such as Queen Elizabeth II of England, and Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko of Japan. Also included in the set are photographs of Maori and Pacifica cultural groups in live performance; influential Maori leaders such as Matiu Rata, Dame Mira Szaszy, and Dame Iritana Tawhiwhirangi; a debutante ball hosted by Dame Te Arikinui Te Atairangikaahu; photographs of the Sydney Opera House opening ceremony in 1973; and photographs of Maori Trade Training apprentices on the job.
