Description: Small poster announces a fundraising event at the Art Gallery, advertised similarly in the Christchurch Press of 6 July 1899. A variety of typefaces and decorative motifs is used. The goods on sale included children's clothing, useful woollen goods, dolls, Chinese embroidery, carved work, etc, etc. The bigophone or bigotphone was a popular carnival musical instrument, cheap, noisy and decorative. Description: Booklet issued for the tour of the Hinemoa New Zealand Band to Britain in 1903 contains a history of the band, and of its Concert Committee Director Mr J Henry Iles. There are small biographical paragaphs about some band members: Lieut. T Herd (conductor), Mr D M'Kinnon Bain (manager), Mr Geo W Wilton (secretary), Princess Te Rangi Pai, Chieftain Rangiuia, Mr Bantock Pierpoint. As well as some individual portraits there is a group photograph of the band (members all named). The second half of the booklet is filled with words of songs sung by Princess Te Rangi Pai, Chieftain Rangiuia, and Mr Bantock Pierpoint.
