Description: Shows Jim Anderton knocking John Kirk backwards out of his seat (labelled 'Sydenham') by pressing a button on the side of the chair. David Lange looks on in bewilderment. Refers to July 1983, when John Kirk announced that he would not seek the Labour Party's nomination for Sydenham in the 1984 election. In his place Labour selected Jim Anderton, the party president, whereupon Kirk (a strong David Lange supporter) declared that he would stand against the official Labour candidate as an independent. Description: Shows Rob Muldoon going through New Zealand Customs as he returns from holiday. He carries golf clubs on his back, his carry bag contains duty-free alcohol, and he carries a cassette recorder and microphone. He sports a Hawaiian shirt, straw sunhat and jandals. When asked if he has anything to declare, he roars 'war on the unions'. Another customs officer pokes his head around the door and says 'It's old bluetongue himself!'. An airplane on the runway in the background announces 'Passengers are warned that NZ currency is utterly worthless'. A calendar on the wall tells the date is 13 January, 1978.
