Description: Letters written by the Rev Thomas Litchfield Stanley, an Anglican clergyman, to his son, Norman, who was serving in the Royal Navy in the Mediterranean, Iceland, and Great Britain. Most letters are written from the Vicarage, Gore, but also from Gisborne and Dunedin. They are mostly concerned with the writer's deteriorating health and family affairs, but they make considerable comment on the Royal Navy and Norman's career.
