Description: This hand drawn map includes original data from a map drawn by E. Bradbury & Co. in 1919 of recommended motoring roads and shipping routes of the area from Onehunga northwards to Hauhora. Data added in 1972 relates to branch lines and sections of railways, some proposed. The outline of the map is attributed to A.A. Motor Touring. The railway routes are named, with distances and dates of opening, and appear in list format in panels (i.e. inset) adjacent to the applied areas. Some information is given on motoring routes, their passability in all seasons including distances. A comprehensive reference key is included. Facts are included on North Auckland dated 1919. The folded card contains advertisements for Andrew, Sons & Co, grain merchants, who hired out cabs, brakes, buggies and every class of vehicle at short notice and sold produce (oats, maize, bran, potatoes, hay, straw and coal) at Avondale. Description: This cartoon is about Auckland Mayor Sir Dove-Meyer Robinson's plan to have a rapid rail and bus service in Auckland derailed by Wellington bureaucrats. The cartoon also shows Auckland beating Wellington in the Ranfurly Shield. The lower scenes feature an angry Dove-Meyer but the last scene shows him negotiating for Wellington's approval by doing a deal including the Ranfurly Shield and Bryan Williams (rugby player) and John Walker (athlete). Description: A pamphlet urging voters in the Auckland Transport Board elections to vote for Communist Party members Rita Smith and Alex Rait, so that the Board allocates more money to the provision of trams rather than "tanks and tommy-guns". It also mentions the Police Offences Amendment Act whereby protesters against poor transportation could end up being arrested with no trial by jury. Front page shows two bystanders watching a tank moving down the street. One says to the other: "That's all that's left of the 5-10 to Onehunga". Quantity: 1 b&w photo-mechanical print(s). Description: In eight frames, an Auckland Regional Authority transport committee meets to make suggestions for the transport problems facing Auckland. 'What we need Mr Chairman is revolutionary thinking.' They proceed to describe the old system of trams and ferries - 'Perhaps something running on rails, with wooden seats, powered by electricity, that go clang! clang!, connecting with a network of coal-burning ferries to the Shore.'
