Description: Papers connected with the ordering, purchase and freighting to New Zealand of a processional cross commissioned by the Seddon family in memory of Louisa Jane Seddon and presented to St Paul's Church in 1932. Includes samples of F Osborne's ecclesiastical art metal work, catalogue of ecclesiastical silver & metal work (company unknown) and church plate and metal work (company unknown), quotations from Burns Oates & Washbourne Ltd and E Whiteway & Co Ltd of London. Also part of a letter to Owen Cox, Sydney, mentioning Rev Sprot(t) and Mr Barraud re the R J Seddon Memorial Pulpit in Old St Paul's (2 May 1907). Description: Photographs of: a group of people gathered to watch sports on the Queen's Birthday in Tonga including Seddon; a view of the coast at Cape Foulwind; a letter addressed to "Sire Sedone, Pirima, Neuseland" from Niue; a gathering of Tongans outside a marquee in Nuku'alofa for the Queen's birthday celebrations; Seddon and what are probably other parliamentarians standing on the steps of a building; a large totara; the Seddon family on a visit to the state schoolhouse in Levuka, Fiji; the Seddon family gathered round an ornately framed certificate noting Seddon's achievements; Huka Falls taken by the Burton Brothers; Seddon holding a taiaha seated in a group of seven working men; the recreation ground in New Plymouth looking towards Mount Taranaki; two portraits of Samoan girls; a cart travelling on the Cable Bay Road looking out over the bay taken by Tyree Studio; Lake Taupo from Motutere taken by Burton Brothers; and a group of men, possibly including Seddon, sitting and standing on the steps of a building. Includes family groups, picnic scene, men playing golf and a group on (Franz Josef ?) glacier. One shows the Greymouth surgery of the Drs Morice. Dr Charles George Frederick Morice and his wife, Louisa Jane Morice (nee Seddon), feature in some of the family groups. Seddon, Ronald Nathan, 1930-1998 : Papers relating to the Seddon family

Description: Contains correspondence between the St Helens (England) and New Zealand branches of the Seddon family, mainly between Mary Seddon and her sons, Benjamin and Richard and their family. The letters discuss family matters and the desirability of New Zealand as a destination for other family members to emmigrate to. Also contains letters from Richard John Seddon to his English relations and printed material relating to his career as a politician and prime minister of New Zealand. Mary Seddon, 1840-1922 lived in St Helens, Liverpool. Her son Benjamin (1880-1966) emigrated to New Zealand in 1908 and worked for the railways at Addington, Christchurch until he transferred to Greymouth in Oct 1912. A second son, Richard (1874-1946) also emigrated to New Zealand, initially settling in Wellington in 1912 and then moving to Greymouth. Richard John Seddon 1845-1906 was the nephew of Mary Seddon and cousin of Bejamin and Richard Seddon. Quantity: 28 folder(s). 0.28 Linear Metres. Description: Te Ao Marama meeting house/mission hall. Date and photographer unknown. The Te Ao Marama meeting house, Ohinemutu, opened circa 1912. It was owned by the Bennett family and given by them to St Faith's Church for use as a parish hall. During the 1930's the Board of Maori Arts established the Rotorua carving school (led by Harold Hamilton) in this building. (Information from back of file print of 1/2-105145)

Taken by an unidentified photographer in September 1895. The deputation of Urewera chiefs included: Marunui, Harehare, Rewi, Tokopounamu, Mihaere, Te Korowhiti, Paraki, Te Peere, Wharekotua, Wharepapa, Tuhoto, and Ngapuhi. Wi Pere, MP for the Eastern Electorate, was also present.
