Wilson, Joseph Vivian, 1894-1978

Diplomat and Senior Civil Servant. Known as JV. Joined Dept of External Affairs after a career in the Geneva-based Secretariat of the League of Nations (1923-1940) and at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London. Assistant Secretary, 1944-1956; Minister, later Ambassador, to France, 1956-1959.
