Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife, sailing, and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in Chile during the Totorore expedition, circa Jul-Dec 1983. One image of Jim Watt taken by an unidentified expedition member. Set contains images of dolphin gulls, Patagonian plover "zonibyz modestus", winter plover, surfbirds, turnstones, sanderlings, kelp geese (pair and individual birds at Guafo Island), and a green-backed firecrown hummingbird [Watt notes this image was published]. Also "lanchas" in regatta at Laguna San Raphael (Puerto Montt), tents and other camping images at expedition site on Lagartija Island, sea lion bulls in the water, a large house at Cabuco, boats at low tide (Pudeto), snow covered mountains and Quintupeu Fjord, Corcovado Volcano, and a sunset. Expedition members Jay Espinosa, Andreas von Meyer, Luis Espinosa, and Gerry Clark (Captain) are photographed in the Lagartija campsite images and going ashore at Guafo Island lighthouse "faro". Includes images of Canadian Pacific Airline plane on tarmac, vaqueros with cattle at Valdivia "like the Whanga[mata] hotel paddock," a canon "300mm 15 tonnes" and a park at Valparaiso, a waterfall at Reloncavi, view of Calbaco Island, a bee on a plant Guafo Island, sunsets, and clouds at Quellon. Birds include penguins, terns, black-necked swans, silvery grebe "p. occipitalis", oystercatchers, kelp gulls at Puerto Montt, hooded gulls, upland geese at Punta Arenas, and winter plover. Set contains images of flamingos (flying and wading) [most likely Hornopiren], an Andean condor in a cage (Punta Arenas), a Magellanic penguin on a nest [most likely Guafo Island] and flock swimming (at Puerto Montt), kelp geese and "b/backed and amer" oystercatchers (at Pumalin), South American terns, Inca terns (at Puerto Montt), black-backed kelp gulls "all phases" (at Angelmo, Puerto Montt), and a large flock of godwits (at Quellon). Also includes images of erosion in a fiord, the view to the northern point of Guafo Island (from on board the 'Totorore'), French sailors Patrick and Pierette Gary in an inflatable dingy, fog at Reloncavi, street with restaurant and maritime transport centre (at Quellon), and view of San Vincente port.
