Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in Chile during the Totorore expedition and after he left the expedition to travel alone, circa Jul-Dec 1983. Set contains images of birds including flamingos (beside the anchored 'Totorore'), Inca terns, Magellanic penguings, sanderlings, surfburds, turnstones, steamer ducks, a ringed kingfisher "martin pescador" (at Pudeto), red-legged cormorant "red-foot garmardi", black vulture "Jote", black-necked ibis "bandurria", and an Andean condor. Also contains street scenes from Santiago (featuring a church, other buildings, and a market), Corcovado and Chayapiren "Pichimahuida" volcanoes, the Andes seen from a commerical airliner (on Watt's arrival"), San Vincente port, Quintupeu (in Pumalin Park), and Valparaiso seen from the water. Bird species in this set include surfbirds, turnstones, sanderlings, Inca terns, black-browed mollymawks, a dead narrow [thin]-billed prion "belcherii", pied shags, Hudsonian godwits "part of 1000 flock" (at Quellon), a churette, black-necked swans (at Pumalin), and cormorants "Oliveaceus" (at Puerto Montt). Images from Valdiva include the town seen from a bridge over the river and a stall at the market selling jerseys, and the Hotel Naguilan. Also contains an image of two small boats by the jetty for the museum [Valdivia? Isla Tenglo?]. Set includes images of Wilson's storm petrels, an Inca tern in flight, imperial shags "albiventers" in flight (at Punta Arenas), a sooty shearwater, birds nests with eggs in them, a Patagonian sand plover, an imperial shag "atricepts" on the water, and hooded gulls.
