Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife, sailing, and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in Chile during the Totorore expedition, circa Jul-Dec 1983. Set includes images from Guafo Island including of pair of kelp geese, bairds, flowering plants, a burial cave (with 'Totorore' in bay beyond) and a sea lion bull. Also contains images from Reloncavi Estuary, two vaqueros wrangling a cow [Valdivia?], a glacier seen from the air, a dog standing in a wasteland area, a table set for a meal, the silhouettes of trees, and fishing catch at Angelmo (Puerto Montt). Inscriptions: Note from depositor reads: "Small box of slides labelled Valdivia - prob not true to label". Quantity: 17 colour original transparency/ies. Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife, sailing, and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt and Anthea Goodwin in Chile and Southern Ocean [Antarctica?] during the Totorore expedition, circa 1983-1984. Includes views of an unidentified volcano, snow in a fiord, and aerial images (glaciers, Chilean Patagonia, and Talcan Island in "Bahia Pumalin"), taken from a commercial airliner. Also contains six slides slides of snow and icy conditions from on board the 'Totorore', three of which are labelled "Taken near Antarctica. Photo by Athena Goodwin". Also contains one image of king penguins attributed to Gerry Clark. Inscriptions: Notes from depositor read: "Puerto Montt - small box of slides" and "uncle Jim didn't take these. Anthea Goodwin from Papakura". Arrangement: Three unattributed photographs of snow and ice, likely taken by Athena Goodwin, re-ordered to go in sequence with captioned images in a similar environment. Image by Gerry Clark also placed with these images. Jim Watt left the Totorore expedition in Punta Arenas, Chile, and did not travel with the expedition to Antarctica or South Georgia island. Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife, sailing, and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in Chile during the Totorore expedition, circa Jul-Dec 1983. Set includes images of Wilson's storm petrels, an Inca tern in flight, imperial shags "albiventers" in flight (at Punta Arenas), a sooty shearwater, birds nests with eggs in them, a Patagonian sand plover, an imperial shag "atricepts" on the water, and hooded gulls. Also contains images of the 'Totorore' in a fjord, "Curanto Hoffman" [hotel?] at Tenglo Island (Puerto Montt), buildings on the water (Valdivia), spurs for sale in a shop window, unidentified brick ruins, a cart, [cattle?], a chart of path from Valdivia to Puerto Montt, a Patagonian glacier viewed from the air, and expedition member Andreas von Meyer.
