Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife and sailing scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in Chile during the Totorore expedition, circa Jul-Dec 1983. Set includes images of Magellanic penguins (both swimming and on the shore) and of dolphin gull eggs in a nest. Also features numerous images of 'Totorore' at various locations and dinghy of men near Guafo Island lighthouse "faro" as well as scenic images of mountains and fijords. Locations include Lagartija Island, Caleta Samuel (Guafo Island), Yate Volcano, Sotomo, Corcovado Gulf, Tulcan Island, and Pumalin Park (including Quintupeu Fjord). Set includes 'Totorore' moored in fiord, the entrance to Reloncavi Sound, Southern Andes seen from water, Yate Volcano, various yachts on the water, diving equipment (helmet and hand pump), Sotomo locals in a boat trading for "Chorros" with the 'Totorore', Lillie and Pancho [children of Julie von Meyer] on board the 'Totorore', fishermen at Angelmo (and their boats including 'A364 Muchachita' and catch), two images of expedition leader Gerry Clark (one in a dinghy at Pumalin, another on the deck of the 'Totorore' entering a fiord), and an unidentified church. Also contains four photographs of birds: steamer ducks in flight, flamingos, Magellanic penguins, and oystercatchers. Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife, sailing, and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in Chile during the Totorore expedition and on his travels after he left the expedition, circa Jul-Dec 1983. Set includes images of birds including oystercatchers ( "black ater", "brown and white American palliatus", "Feugian leucopodus black and white"), turkey vultures "Gallinazo", black vultures (Valdivia), a Peruvian pelican (Valparaiso), pelicans and piqueros [boobies?] in flight, and kelp geese. Local scenes show Santiago (including high rises, view from [Santa Lucia?] hill, and a street market), unidentified ruins of a [fortification?], a gun emplacement, a street scene in Valparaiso, Nuhuel Island, Andes seen from the sea, the wreck of the 'Lord Londsdale' (Punta Arenas), Valdivia corral, and Calbuco Island settlement. Set contains images of two unidentified children (one of whom is holding a puppy); Corcovado, Chayapiren, Calbuco, and Osorno volcanoes; the 'Totorore' refuelling at Valdivia as well as another image showing various vehicles, including a horse and cart, by the fuel pumps; 'Totorore' in fjord as well as at the bottom of a snow fed waterfall; 'San Susan' fishing boat at sea; various images of mist and snow; two images showing ice fields in the Andes "Centro Patagonia" and coastal Patagonia taken from a commercial passenger flight; and an unidentified fortification and statue in Santiago. Description: Colour transparencies of birdlife, sailing, and local scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt and Anthea Goodwin in Chile and Southern Ocean [Antarctica?] during the Totorore expedition, circa 1983-1984. Includes views of an unidentified volcano, snow in a fiord, and aerial images (glaciers, Chilean Patagonia, and Talcan Island in "Bahia Pumalin"), taken from a commercial airliner. Also contains six slides slides of snow and icy conditions from on board the 'Totorore', three of which are labelled "Taken near Antarctica. Photo by Athena Goodwin". Also contains one image of king penguins attributed to Gerry Clark. Inscriptions: Notes from depositor read: "Puerto Montt - small box of slides" and "uncle Jim didn't take these. Anthea Goodwin from Papakura". Arrangement: Three unattributed photographs of snow and ice, likely taken by Athena Goodwin, re-ordered to go in sequence with captioned images in a similar environment. Image by Gerry Clark also placed with these images. Jim Watt left the Totorore expedition in Punta Arenas, Chile, and did not travel with the expedition to Antarctica or South Georgia island.
