Description: Shows three-panelled pointed-arched window in later Gothic revival style with white glass background. The central window shows St Michael slaying a dragon, above Joshua in regal dress, and the crest of the airforce, with "Per ardua ad astra" below. The left panel shows Saint holding helmet and spear , above Gideon in armour, and the crest of the army below. The right panel shows Saint Nicholas holding a sailing ship, above David with his harp, and the crest of the navy below. Inscriptions: Recto - top centre - 9386/197 1951 Quantity: 1 drawing(s). Description: Two panelled window commemmorating the work and sacrifice of the New Zealand Air Force in the Pacific, and in Europe, during the Second World War. Left panel shows the figure (and winged lion symbol) of Saint Mark, patron saint of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, with figures of a pilot in a flying suit and a ground staff member in tropical uniform against a background of RNZAF activities in the Pacific. The right panel contains the figure (and dragon symbol) of Saint Michael, patron saint of the Royal Air Force, with two figures, one in a flying suit and one in battledress, over a small scene of a plane of the RAF flying over a church in Europe. Description: The KCMG medal is an enamelled seven-point star with an enameled central circular image of St George on horseback fighting a dragon. The Star and Badge of the Order feature the cross of St George, the Order's motto, and a central image of the archangel St Michael holding a flaming sword and trampling upon Satan. Sir H F O'Leary was appointed chief justice of New Zealand on 12 August 1946 and in 1947 was made a KCMG. Quantity: 1 curio(s). Physical Description: Two gold, silver and enamel medals, one a star-badge of diameter 80 mm, and the KCMG of diameter 60 mm, suspended from gold crown and ribbon. Description: Includes full-size cartoons for the top sections of seven of the eight windows constituting the memorial window. The eighth (final) window is not included. The theme of the whole sequence, a memorial to those lost in the First World War, is "Victory through Sacrifice". The first four lights are devoted to Struggle and Sacrifice, and those on the right to Victory and Peace, as follows: 1. Saint Michael the Warrior archangel, with dragon pennant, sword, and a design of suns or sunflowers on his robe. The dragon has been coloured. 2. Angel of Passion holding the Crown of Thorns. 3. Angel of Sacrifice with a large wooden cross. 4. Angel of Death with a scythe. 5. Gabriel the Archangel of Peace, with olive branch. Some of the olive sprigs on his robe have been coloured yellow. 6. Angel with the Chalice signifying Redemption through Blood. There is some yellow colour at the bottom of the robe. 7. Angel of the Resurrection with the Banner, signifying Victory over Death. The 8th (missing) panel would have showed the Angel with the Crown of Glory. Quantity: 7 drawing(s). Physical Description: Ink, sizes varying about 2400 x 650 mm.
