Description: Lampert's papers on his archaeological excavation at Te Aka, Banaba, including correspondence, a field notebook, drawings, plan of old Te Aka village and photographs. Also, a site map and summary of dig at Tabwewa, Banaba, by Mrs L J Thwaites and Mrs V Conrad 1969, and post-war reports on Ocean Island and Nauru, including an account of the Japanese occupation. Ken Sigrah's papers are documents gathered for his history of Banaba, including material on the Banaba Settlement Scheme and the Banabans' legal conflict with the British Crown. Provenance: Dr Lampert's papers were held in the Division of Archaeology and Natural History, Australian Nartional University, but were transferred to Mr Sigrah for deposit with the Rabi Council in 1997 along with the artefacts and skeletal remains which Dr Lampert had excavated at Te Aka.
