Description: Comprises material relating to the first air drop to Pitcairn Island in 1983 which included commemorative philatic covers produced by the Pitcairn Administration and seven covers produced by former Education Officer Education Murray Howse. Contains inward and outward correspondence, newspaper cuttings and copies of the serial `Pitcairn Miscellany' dated 1985. Also includes note written by vendor David Smitham in March 2014 concerning the history of the 1983 air drop and the production of philatic covers (envelopes) to commemorate this event. On 21 February 1983 the Royal New Zealand Air Force made the first air drop over Pitcairn Island. The first drop consisted of mail, a toy bulldozer and peaches.
