Description: Interviews with Maori linemen and some of their wives, who worked across New Zealand in the electricity transmission line industry, including hydro power, before the reforms of the late 1980s and early 1990s took place. Recollections include life in the camps, constructing and climbing pylons, working in gale force winds and snow, use of helicopters, issues with farmers, dangerous experiences, accidents and deaths of fellow workers, growth of the industry and recreational activities such as pig and deer hunting, sea food gathering and wild horse herding. The interviewees are Mansell Edmonds, Sally Edmonds, John and Sonny George with contributions from their wives, Maureen and Christine George, Lou Herewihi, Bill Hiku, Ray Jones, William Matthews and Pat Toi.
