Description: Looking along the deck of a sailing ship with the ocean (probably the Atlantic) and a rising full moon above the horizon. Two men, one in a sailor's uniform, are talking in the foreground The scene is probably on the Atlantic, on the crossing between Brazil and England in 1865, when the artist was on his way home from military service in New Zealand.
