Description: This album collection covers the period when Geoffrey Cox had published his book on the Russo-Finnish war of 1939-1940 and his appointment as First Secretary to the New Zealand Legation Washington in 1942. Description: Programme booklet for a performance in aid of the ANZAC Club and Buffet in London. The front cover shows New Zealand and Australian soldiers raising their respective flags on a headland overlooking the sea, with a Union Jack in the top centre. The programme included the following performers: Victoria Palace Orchestra under Mr J Weaver), Joyce Brown (violin), Mabel Manson (song), Edward Lauri (song), Margaret Cooper (piano), Irene Vanbrugh (recitation), Little Florence Bayfield (dance), Violet Loraine; Lilian Braithwaite and Ben Webster in a duologue, Alfred Lester; Lorna and Toots Pounds; Albert Whelan (Australian entertainer), Sergeant Harold Nott (Australian marching song). Description: Photograph taken by Frank J. Denton at Putney, London, 10 August, 1918. Shows the New Zealand rowing eight from Codford military camp. The team can be seen in their boat alongside the Thames riverbank, the rowers wear a New Zealand crest on their tops. The print is mounted on board with hand painted inscriptions. Inscriptions at the top of the mount read: "N.Z. [New Zealand] Representative Eight 1918, taken at Putney, England. Winners of Intercolonial Eights at Putney 10-8-18, International Eights at Reading 21-9-18, Senior Eights at Putney 28-9-18". Inscriptions at the bottom of the mount list names of the rowers: "G.A. Wilson (Bow), Wanganui; T. Goldie (2), Auckland; R. Forrester (3), Invercargill; R.E. Fitzer (4), Ch. Ch, [Christchurch]; D.C. Hadfield (5), Auckland; W.G Coombes (6), Wanganui; C.R. Description: Shows a tight formation of soldiers in the centre background, with two riders holding flags in their midst. They are beseiged by cavalry from both right and left. In the long grass or deep mud in the foreground, horses flounder about and a broken cannon lies abandoned. The battle took place on 16 June 1815, when Napoleon led the revived French armies into Belgium, his object being to drive a wedge between Prussian (Blucher) and British-Dutch armies (Wellington). Marshall Ney was the French commander who lad the attack on the 36,000 British-Dutch forces, and held a clear advantage, until Wellington threw in General Picton's division, and defeated the French. Description: Comprises photographs taken and collected by Leonard Rennell James Robinson who took part in World War Two in the Middle East Force. Includes photographs of army personnel in New Zealand in 1939; on the "Aquitania" about to leave for Britain; other transports which they joined in convoy which include the "Queen Mary," the "Empress of Canada," the "Empress of Japan," and the "Andes;" ports of call at Cape Town and Sierra Leone, and a view of the transports entering the Clyde at the end of their journey. A few images show a group of soldiers in camp at Aldershot, and ambulance training on the Kent Coast. Four images show the vapour trails of fighter planes in the sky over England.
