Cartoon character created by Gordon Minhinnick. First appeared in the Auckland 'Sun', then reappeared in the 'New Zealand Herald' Saturday supplement before achieving enduring fame as 'Old Soldier Sam' during the war years (1939-1945).

Description: Shows Sam leading other soldiers on an exercise creeping up on a young woman seated on a rock. He motions his followers to stop, and holds up a sign reading "Booby trap!"
