Hongoeka Pā

A historic Ngati Toa pā identified by George Leslie Atkin in 'Māori place-names of New Zealand' (Vol 6). The Pā was located along the Kapiti coast below Te Rewarewa head and to the north west of Taupo Pā, Plimmerton. Hongoeka was primarily occupied by the Ngati Haumia, Ngati Kimihia tribes, although many of the descendants are also associated with Ngati Kuri, Ngati Te Maunu and Ngati Koata. In 2016, Hongoeka Marae is located in Plimmerton.
