Included are Strathblane sheep station south west of Gisborne where William Herbert Guthrie-Smith and his siblings Harry, Archibald, Annie, Elma, and a D Guthrie-Smith that may have been James Robert Dennistoun Guthrie Smith, spent the Christmas of 1900. The main photographers were Annie, Elma, William and Harry. Included are - Views of the Hangaroa River. Members of the family, especially as a group, Christmas 1900. Cats, and dogs. Description: Photograph album of images taken by William Fitzgerald Crawford illustrating a trip to Waikaremoana and Nuhaka, Hawkes Bay, and Gisborne District taken between December 27 1897 and 4 Jan 1898 by Crawford, Captain Thomas Crisp, E Crisp, the Rev Edward Jennings, and driver J R Redstone. The album is likely to have been compiled by Crawford as he has made similar, but the annotations were possibly written by one of the Chrisps. The images include many scenic images of rivers, mountain ranges, waterfalls as well as images of camps, huts, ferries,horses, waka, dinghies, carts, hotels, bridges and people, including Maori groups, the men on the trip, a Chief Surveyor's party and other people they met. Ngati Ruapani and Ngati Kahungunu are the two principle iwi associated with the places identified in the album. There may also be other relevant iwi and hapu.
