Description: Mr Pullen wrote regular letters to his wife which are detailed, observant and witty. Mr Pullen's letters clearly convey his impressions of the country and the people as well as giving a clear account of his botanical survey practices. During the 1950s and 1960s the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) was investigating resources in Papua New Guinea on a broad scale using both air photography and checking "ground truth". Description: Roneoed typescript of some 61 pages, dated 4 Nov 1945. Source of title - Transcribed Captain Singh, of the Dogra Regiment, was captured with other Indian troops at the fall of Singapore in 1942. Some 3000 of the prisoners were transferred to New Britain and New Guinea May 1943. Only 194 prisoners survived until the end of the war. Quantity: 1 microfilm reel(s).
