Description: Diary kept by Healy while sailing, probably as the wife of the captain of the whaling vessel "St Paul". She records several voyages, all departing San Francisco, through the northern Pacific Ocean into Arctic waters, touching at places on the Alaskan coast and also whaling towards the Siberian coast. Her diaries record daily life on board, the weather, seasickness and other illnesses, social life, ports visited and people met and her feelings about sailing. He describes Arctic weather, plants and animals, and the Eskimos' dress, eating habits and manners; also winter trips along the coast and adventures on voyage south. Daily entries on whaling cruise to the Arctic in the "Francis Palmer", Jan-Nov 1887, when only two whales were caught, and similar entries for a cruise in the "Rosario", Mar-Nov 1888.
