Description: Poster for a bullfight in Seville shows a matador with a cape, executing a manoeuvre with a bull. Accompanied by partial folder in which the poster was issued. Date estimated from other known posters by J Reus. Matador Antonio Ordonez lived 1932-1998, and Cesar Giron lived 1933-1971. If the date is correct, the famous Rafael Ortega, 1882-1960 is unlikely to be the bullfighter mentioned on this poster. Description: "Treasures from the Underworld," an exhibition of 14 New Zealand artists (13 ceramic artists and one glass artist) on display in the New Zealand pavilion at the World Expo 1992, Seville, Spain. Photographed by an unknown photographer in 1992. Accompanying information - Identification of artists provided by Justine Olsen of Te Papa. Filed in Photographic Archive backfile under 'Macnamara, Galvan" "Treasures From the Underworld" was commissioned by the New Zealand Government and curated and installed by Galvan Macnamara. It was supported by the Museum of New Zealand and the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council. When the expo closed it was exhibited in Amsterdam. Description: Album of views compiled by Alexander Fisher, MD RN, during his service as a surgeon aboard HMS Endymion. The album comprises: Photographs collected during the cruise of the Flying Squadron, under the command of Rear Admiral G T Phipps Hornby, during 1869-1870, which carried HRH the Duke of Edinburgh. Included are views of Plymouth, Portsea, Madeira, Brazil (Bahia and Rio de Janiero), South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Japan, British Columbia, Hawaii and Chile. Photographs collected during a cruise in the Mediterranean during the 1870s, including views of Malta, Syria, Jerusalem, Venice, Egypt (Alexandria, Cairo, Pyramids, the Sphinx), Gibraltar and Seville Photographers represented include William Thomas Locke Travers (1819-1903), James Bragge (1833?-1908), Felice A Beato (1825-1908?). Prince Alfred Ernest Albert, Duke of Edinburgh (1844-1900), was captain of HMS Galatea and commander of the Flying Squadron, which visited New Zealand in 1869 and 1870.
