Rahotu

Township on coastal plain at western foot of Mt Taranaki, 16 km NW of Opunake, 18km SW of Okato. Settled by Europeans in 1886; previously the site of a Maori pa whose occupants, the Maru, were killed in intertribal war with Waikato Maori in 1826.
