Description: Survey plan of land northeast of the junction of the Rangitikei River and Makowhai Stream. The main block is marked "410 acres", and corresponds to W.D. 1885, Poutu Native Reserve, Block II Te Kawau S.D., Rangitikei Manawatu Block, in a 1911 survey map. It is bordered to the east by four blocks of land, designated 205, 206, 207 and 208. Accompanied by a fragment entitled: Mangamahoe N R, Manawatu Rangitikei Block, plan of land awarded by order of Court to native mentioned in List C, Ngatiparewhakawhaka & Ngatikahoro in the Native Ld Court, Wellington, 28th day of September 1869. Description: Photographs taken by Albert Percy Godber between 1905 and 1907, covering a variety of topics. They include family photographs, both individual and group portraits, and Wellington houses (eg `Railway Whare', the house Godber and his family lived in, in Bay Street, Petone). One scene shows Godber's parents, Mary Ann and Charles Godber, with a large group of family members, including Albert Percy Godber, his wife Laura, and two children, Phyllis and William (p.21). On p. 13, Godber's wife Laura and two children are seen with an elderly couple, probably Laura's parents Charles Albert and Magdelina Clara Zinckgraf. Numbers of images show scenes associated with New Zealand Railways, including the Mataroa Railway Tunnel under construction, specific locomotives, signal stations, the railway station at Petone, and scenes at the Petone Railway Workshops. At the beginning of the album, several images show Godber and a team from the Petone Fire Brigade with medals they have won at fire-fighting practice competitions. A pocket at the front of the album holds two photographs, on of a new cutting on the road near Lowry Bay, and one of the `model of `D' class locomotive used in the Petone Peace Demonstration Procession' following the Boer War in 1902, signed `With A.P. Includes named peaks, lakes, swamps, streams and creeks. Names of huts include Log Cabin (Parkinsons), Manson Hut, Peters Hut, Golden Hills Hut, Te Apunga (Kaimanua) Hut. Description: Draft of a map of the Rangitikei River in five sections, designed to be folded when printed. The sections are: 1, rapids 1 to 28; 2, rapids 24 to 90; 3, rapids 86 to 158; 4, rapids 155 to 204; 5, rapids 201 to Kakariki. The start of the north-to-south trip is near the suspension bridge just north of Utiku, and the end at the road and rail bridges near Kakariki. Sections 1, 2 and 3 have enlargements of difficult sections of the river. Natural features marked on the map include cliffs with approximate heights, rapids, greywacke shingle beds, tributary streams, and a stretch in section 4 where the river channel varies daily. Bridges are marked and also shown in silhouette looking downstream. Prominent tree groups, houses and bush are indicated, as well as steel cables, power pylons and major roads. Data are given for a trip in January 1953: distance 51 miles, falling 700 ft; 16 hours on the water; initial speed 4 mph; final speed 2 1/2 mph.
