Description: Papers include letters to Denmark, a history of the Scandinavian church in New Zealand 1865 - ca 1900 by Mads with a translation and history from 1928 by Ansgar, sermons and diaries of Ansgar Christensen, 1928-1957. Also includes Clem Koch's history of the Lutheran Church in New Zealand Source of title - Supplied Mads Christensen was sent to New Zealand by the Inner Mission Board of Denmark in 1886. He was ordained and inducted to the Mauriceville Parish in 1886; from 1893 he served in Palmerston North. From 1928 to 1958 his son, Ansgar, served in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palmerston North. Description: Four maps that are part of the 1962 Oroua County district scheme, including one each of the Halcombe, Bunnythorpe, Ashhurst townships and one of the entire Oroua County. Contains two separate reference sheets that refer to the Halcombe and the Oroua County maps. The three township maps show zoning, reserves, recreation areas, water, railways, streets, and district boundaries. The Oroua County map annotations identify zoning, reserves, recreation areas, water, railways, streets, district boundaries, hospitals and community buildings, and are colour-coded to the reference sheet; other annotations name schools, halls and cemeteries. Description: The papers collected by Dorothy Strauch are in two parts. The first relates to the mission of Christoph Dierks at Waitotara and includes copies of letters he and other Lutheran missionaries wrote back to Missionsanstalt Hermannsburg in Germany. This correspondence is in German. The second part of the collection comprises printed material, mainly serials, gathered by Dorothy Strauch in her capacity as archivist for St Martin's Lutheran Church, Marton. Missionsanstalt Hermannsburg dispached Christoph Dierks, Hartwig Dierks, Heinrich Loose and Wilhelm Kowert to New Zealand to serve as missionaries.
