Description: Photographs of Kamo (Whangarei), Rodney County and Coromandel, taken, probably in the 1900s, by Daniel P Parker of Coromandel. Includes views of the construction on a timber dam (probably in Coromandel), Coromandel Public Hospital, Kennedy Bay (Coromandel), a stream crossing between Opitonui and Coromandel, bush camps in the Coromadel district and a traffic bridge in Rodney County. Daniel P Parker is recorded in the Wise's Post Office directories as an engineer in Coromandel from 1902 to 1930. Between 1906 and 1911 he is also recorded as a photographer. Description: Hydro electric power and irrigation dams, in particular the construction of the Pool Burn Reservoir dam. Some dam sites before construction, specifically a site on the Manuherikia River for the "Manuherikia Falls Dam". There are photographs of "White Creek Fault" and the effects of the Murchison earthquake on roads, bridges and the countryside. Especially covered is the lake formed by an earth slide across the Matakitaki River Likely to be a very interesting collection. Furkert was a leading public servant through the 1920s and 1930s. Description: Shows two scenes: in the first an angry tax-payer confronts New Zealand Minister of Finance, Roger Douglas, with the $240,000,000 bill for the construction of the Luggate Dam, demanding to know why the government's user pays policy cannot pay for it; in the second the tax-payer is dumbfounded as Roger Douglas tells him that the users can't pay because there won't be any users.
