Description: Shows ground floor and first floor plans of a hostel building with dormitories and bedrooms on the upper level, and a hospital, kitchen, sitting room, dining room, hallway, den, office, bathroom, dressing room, boot room and urinal on the ground floor. Attribution to E W G Coleridge on the basis of article in Progress, Volume IV, Issue 4, 1 February 1909, page 136, which says: "Mr. E. Coleridge, architect, has accepted the tender of Mr. J. Craig, at £5300, for the erection of a native college and hostel building at Otaki for the Porirua College Trust Board. The hostel, which will stand on a fine commanding site, will have a frontage of 100 ft and an average depth of 60ft., and will be two storeys high. Accommodation has been provided for 20 boarders with a dining hall 32ft. x 21ft, two large dormitories, dressing rooms, bathrooms, etc. Also an office, den, hospital, sitting room, five bedrooms, kitchen, scullery, store rooms, and other conveniences to be used by the staff of the institution. A verandah 80ft. long and 10ft. wide will run along the north side of the building having both ends closed in with glass. This building has been designed in such a way that extra dormitories can be added at a future date without disturbing the inmates in any way." Quantity: 1 plan(s).
