Description: Five photographs of illustrations from S T Gill's "Victoria Illustrated". They depict Melbourne Cathedral; Dight's Mill, Yarra Yarra; Government Office, Melbourne; University of Melbourne; and steam packet wharf, Mack's Hotel, Geelong. Quantity: 5 b&w original photographic print(s). Provenance: These photographs were discovered in the Bowen basement amongst the War History Collection. With them was a letter dated 12th March 1924 from the principal librarian of the Public Library of New South Wales to Johannes Andersen, the librarian of the Turnbull Library. The letter identifies the photographs as being of illustrations from Gill's book, published by Sands & Kenny, Melbourne, in 1857.
