Majestic House (Christchurch, N.Z.)

Located at 124-126 Manchester Street (corner of Manchester and Lichfield Streets) Christchurch. Designed by architects Alfred and Edward Luttrell for John Fuller & Sons Ltd and leased to Christchurch Cinemas Ltd (partnership of Hayward Pictures Ltd, Waters and Spence Ltd, Fuller Pictures Ltd and Edward Joseph Righton). Opened on 1 Mar 1930. Damaged by fire in 1946 and renovated by architect Harry Francis Willis. Operated as theatre venue until 28 Aug 1970. Operated as Moby Dick Nite Spot 1970-1976 until again damaged by fire. Restored and reopened as the Majestic Church (see Canterbury heritage website).
