Description: Cartoon by Ronald Edwin Kennedy depicting a Russian military leader who says "Whoops" as he looks up at an aircraft which has been shot down and is falling to the ground. Title caption reads "…will World War III begin with a…'whoops'?". Printed number bottom left reads "GE 656". Probably refers to an incident on 1 September 1983 in which the USSR shot down a Korean Airlines passenger plane which had strayed off course into Russian airspace. All 269 passengers and crew were killed and the incident dramatically increased tension between the Soviet Union and the United States. Title supplied by Library Quantity: 1 original cartoon(s).
