Japanese political figure. He was Health Minister (1976-7), Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (1978-9), Minister of Finance (1980-2), Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1991-3). His eldest son Yoshimi Watanabe is also a politician.
