Description: Military map showing Pukeruru Pā, the old pā site, gun pits added to original pā, main approach, a spring ('probable water supply'), terraces and positions relating to cross sections A-B and C-D, showing the longitudinal approach over terraces to summit. Includes a small locality map of the pa site in relation to Waiapu River, Tikitiki township, Poroporo River and Rangitukia. Cross section scales are 50 feet to an inch. Description: A group of photographs taken by Jock Phillips and Chris MacLean which depict New Zealand war memorials and related objects or locations relating to the New Zealand Wars, Inter-tribal wars; and the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902 (or Boer War or South African War). The majority of individual slides mounts are annotated with the name of the war or conflict, and the place name of the memorial depicted. Some are annotated with names of associated persons. Record title is supplied by the Library. Arrangement: Photographs were delivered in one box containing three sequences of small slide boxes which were labelled with the name of the war or conflict, a sequential number, a location, and the names "Chris MacLean" and "Jock Phillips". One sequence was titled "Boer War" and boxes were numbered one to nine. One sequence was labelled "Inter Tribal" and boxes were numbered one and two. One sequence was labelled "New Zealand Wars" and numbered three to 16 (this numerical sequence appears to augment from the "Inter Tribal" sequence). The original order of the three sequences and of individual photographs within each slide box has been preserved by the archivist. Jock Phillips and Chris MacLean took many photographs of the war memorials while travelling throughout New Zealand by car. Quantity: 709 colour original transparency/ies.
