F bradley & Co., Box 374, P.O., Christchurch. Photographic Publishers, & C. Views & Landscapes of New Zealand. No 2.- Port Lyttelton. Is one of the finest and most important ports in New Zealand, is situated on the north-western side of Banks' Peninsula, and is seven mile from Christchurch, approachable by rail through the Moorhouse tunnel, which is one mile and three-quarters in length. Lyttelton contains many fine buildings, notably the Post, Telegraph, and Custom House Offices, Harbour Board, New Zealand Shipping Company, and may [sic] others. Population of the town is 2127; dwellings, 728, area, 2014 acres. There is some beautiful scenery in this magnificent harbour, also several large hotels in the place, and capital fishing may be had there. The graving dock is capable of holding the largest vessel running to these colonies; it cost about 78,000 pounds. The area of water enclosed in the Breakwater is about 109 acres. Imports for the year ending 30th June, 1882, is 1,549,280 pounds; exports, 1,622149 pounds. On 24th March, 1882. - Total register Tonnage of foreign bound vessels in Harbour - 27,752 tons register."
