Son of Henry and Florence Emily Davy. Engaged in casual labouring work and sharemilking in various places in New Zealand and Australia. Served with NZEF in the 18th Reinforcements in World War I. Serial No 28691. Evenually moved permanently to Auckland. Still alive in 1973.

Description: Handwritten and typed reminiscences, recorded between 1923 and 1926, and in 1973, of the reminiscences of Henry Davy and his grandson, Ernest Cecil Davy. Henry Davy's reminscences are mainly of his service with Patea Mounted Rifles in Taranaki and Waikato during the New Zealand Wars. Those of Ernest Cecil Davy give a a detailed and vivid account of his life as a casual worker, sharemilker and timber worker in Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand; and include his war service with the 18th Reinforcements in World War I on the Western Front, where he was wounded. Physical Description: Mss, typescript (Photocopy) Provenance: Photocopy given to the donor by Jim McCallum, a retired prison superintendant, in Sydney NSW, who had in turn been given the photocopy ca 1980 by an unknown trainee prison guard. The donor recopied the documents and sent copies to the Auckland Central Library, the Waikato University, Puke Ariki and the Alexander Turnbull Library.
