Description: Maungapohatu School photographed circa 1921. The cleared hill to the right of the house is Tukutoromiro. Photographer unidentified. This image was published in J Binney's 'Mihaia', 1979, page 139 with the caption: "The whare kanikani as the school about 1921. It was described as being 30ft in diameter with walls 11 1/2 feet high. It stood about 2 1/2 ft off the ground. In front is the muddy slide made by children. The cleared hill to the right, across the river, and down which the track winds, is Tukutoromiro."
