Given, David Roger, 1943-2005

Botanist, lecturer, author and photographer. Born Nelson. With Botany Divison, DSIR, 1965-1992; authority on New Zealand's rare and endangered plants. Member of international programmes and committees. Lectured at Lincoln University and was later a consultant. Author of many books, papers and articles, including "Rare and endangered plants of New Zealand" (1981) and "Going native" (2004). Son of entomologist Bruce Given, 1916-2001. Died Christchurch (Dominion Post Obit, 8 Dec 2005, pB9).
