Description: Parade of British sailors marching down lower Queen Street during the visit to Auckland of the World Cruise of the Royal Navy Special Service Squadron. On the left is the Chief Post Office decorated with bunting, the Union Jack, the flag of St George, and the illumination `Auckland greets you'. The advertising sign above the Thames Hotel (in the middle distance) reads `Annette Kellerman - Strand'; `The Spanish Dancer' - Lyric; etc . Other identifiable signs include R & W Hellaby Ltd, Sandford Ltd; Tropical Planters Ltd; New Zealand Insurance Co Ltd. Photograph taken by William A Price 1924. Dated from Papers Past. NZ Herald 13 May 1924, page 10 references the march. This concides with the dates that the advertised movies were showing in Auckland.
