Description: Contains part of a letter written by Robin Hyde in 1938, along with research and notes on provenance of the letter. Includes pages three and four, on a single sheet of paper, of a letter from Robin Hyde while she was traveling to England. She mentions the upcoming publication of her book the 'The godwits fly' (Hurst & Blackett,1938). Includes messages to other friends, including Ron and Kay Holloway, Bob and Irene Lowry and Warwick Lawrence. Some of the messages have been crossed out with pencil. Also includes a handwritten note by Alan Loney on the provenance of the letter, from 1995. Also includes typed research notes from 2022 by archivist Katherine Pawley of Auckland University on the provenance of the letter. These notes include two photocopies of Alan Loney’s 1995 note, one of which includes annotations, possibly by Derek Challis. Pages one and two of this letter are at Library reference MS-Papers-9110-206. Page one is headed 'September 15th, off Portugal'. Auckland University archivist Katherine Pawley found this partial letter and Alan Loney’s note in the University archives in 2021. Alan Loney worked at Auckland University and received Griffin Press equipment and archives that publisher Ron Holloway donated to the University in 1994. Quantity: 1 folder(s). Provenance: This partial letter was accompanied by a note from Alan Loney to say he discovered it in the Griffin Press files at Auckland University on 8 May 1995.
