Of Parakai, Helensville, in 1928. Son of General Sir William Montagu McMurdo, of the Indian Army. One of the earliest settlers of Whakapirau. Married Miss Blanch Hargreaves in 1883. Second marriage to widow of Colonel McDonnell, of Taranaki. Died in 1940 aged 89 years. (obituary - Auckland star, 10 Oct 1940, p 9).
