Description: Comprises photographs taken by Valerie Christine Burton in 2005 of events, objects, and activities relating to Māori. The majority of the photographs were taken during Waitangi Day events at Waitangi, Bay of Islands; and at the Te Matatini National Festival kapa haka competition at Palmerston North. Other photographs show the Māori rock drawings at Duntroon, Otago; waka ama rowers practising for a crossing of Cook Strait; and young kapa haka performers in Taupo. Selected photographs were digitally scanned by Burton in September 2016. Permissions forms for some of the people featured in photographs are filed in the Photographic Archive backfile under "Burton, Valerie Christine". The forms do not relate to individual photographs, and in many cases do not give full names.
