Description: Includes survey maps of the area including an 1918 one by H J Wylde, and an undated plan showing Rangiotu Village bounded by State Highway 56 and the Oroua River. The Beard plan shows a layout of the proposed playing field with a speedway around the edge of it, a polo field, school, tennis courts, and the adjacent Hikatoto burial ground and Te Rangimarie Marae on State Highway 56. At the top is a diagram of the sound emanating from the speedway, varying depending on whether or not there is a sound barrier constructed. Quantity: 6 plan(s). Description: A copy of a mounted photograph showing both the winning and the runners up teams in the Savile Cup tournament, Hastings, 1898. The Oroua Team were the winners and their names were Allan Strang (no 1), J Strang (no 2), O Robinson (no 3), and W Strang (no 4). The Wharerangi team were the runners up and their names were S Peacock (no 1), A Bennett (no 2), S Bennett (no 3) and S Bennett (no 4) (same image as in PAColl-6075-31). Description: In the right hand top corner is a Mexican polo player with a bandolier over his shoulder and a cactus in the background. The rest of the cartoon is made up of five little scenes drawn as though on postcards; each shows a moment in a polo game that has been influenced by the Mexico visit. In one scene the players are having a siesta between chukkas, in another a player who missed a goal is being shot and in another a revolution is being staged. Description: Charles Hill-Trevor's personal album of the time he spent as personal secretary to Lord Ranfurly, Governor of New Zealand. It records the New Zealand contingents sent to the South African war and public events, personalities and patriotic entertainments associated with that enterprise. Visits to Government houses in Australia record other governors, officials and official residences. On one occasion in Melbourne a New Zealand versus Australia polo match was played. Hill-Trevor shows an interest in Māori, wildlife conservation (including the bird sanctuary on Resolution Island), and the sports of fishing, polo and horsemanship. There are photographs of members of the Ranfurly family and their principal servants as well as the Governor engaged in official functions such as opening the Kaiapoi council offices and laying the foundation stone of the Veterans Home, Mt Roskill, Auckland in 1903.
