Description: Comprises digital, and a printed bound copy of, transcriptions by Harry McLernon of diaries kept by Samuel Muir McLernon’s diaries during World War Two. The transcriptions cover the periods of his training in the Egypt up to his capture following the conflict at Ruweisat Ridge (August 1940-July 1942), and his time spend in German prisoner of war camp, Stalag V B until the liberation of the prisoners (September 1943-April 1945). Also included in the transcriptions are scanned photographs, drawings and maps, that accompanied the diaries; scanned telegrams; maps showing Egypt, Italy, and Germany; ration cards; reports on battles at Menastir and Sidi Azeiz written by Samuel McLernon; and the Cavaliere Ordine Al Merito awarded to McLernon for services to Italians.
