Description: Aerial photograph, produced by NZ Aerial Mapping Ltd., Ref. No. A/S 2218, Flown 27.3.69, of L.W. Tonkin's farm in the Matakohe area, NE of Kaipara Harbour, used as a base map to which the farm and paddock boundaries have been outlined in red and detailed in a key. Hand-written notes in the margin give details of neighbouring houses with name references. Features include a trig point with height in feet, cabbage trees (location of), height in feet (of a hill), silo, to Matakohe, Ruatuna. A.P.B.W. believed to be the cartographer. Hand-written notes included in the margins are as follows: "Mainly hill country (sold 1947 to Crown for rehab) leading to 'The Swamp' on Ruawai Flats." "Matakohe Beet Farms, Ltd. (1971) fromerly the property of D.R. Description: Aerial mosaics made by NZ Aerial Mapping Ltd for private customers. The negatives are composite or montaged images, copied from prints that were made from the original aerial films. Consists of views of urban and rural areas throughout New Zealand. Includes some views in the Pacific. There are often sequences of negatives of the same place, but although the descriptions are the same, the images are generally slightly different. Where there are two or more dates it is likely that the earlier date/s are date/s flown and the latest date is the date of compilation. Two indexes provide a listing of the negatives. Also prints of some aerial views and some equipment used in the creation of the images. Title of collection supplied by Library. Source of descriptive information - original negative enclosures, registers, and the negatives themselves NZ Aerial Mapping Ltd went into liquidation in September 2014.
