Gruar, Shirley, 1949-2000, McGregor, Shirley Grace, 1949-2000

Artist, photographer, painter, printmaker, actress and teacher of photography. Obtained Diploma Fine Arts from Canterbury University in 1969, Dip FA (Hons) from Auckland University in 1979 and Dip. Teaching, Auckland, 1978. She appeared in several New Zealand films including `Goodbye Pork Pie' and `Pallet on the floor'. She was the set photographer for `Utu'. With her husband, Bill Gruar, she was involved with Blerta during the 1970s-1980s. Her photographs were used to illustrate the `NZ Listener', `Broadsheet', and `Auckland metro'. During the 1990s she undertook collaborations with Hone Tuwhare. Was registered as Shirley Grace McGregor while a student at Queen Margaret College, Wellington.
