Wellington artist, bookbinder, socialist and occasional recluse. Original surname was Baker, but he changed his name to Fidel in honour of Fidel Castro. (The Evening Post obituary wrongly gives his original name as Brian Baker - this is his brother's name). Drew old Wellington buildings in pointillist style and painted in oils.
