Plimmer, John Alfred, 1846?-1937

Son of John Plimmer (1812-1905). Director of the Wellington & Manawatu Railway Co in 1907. One of the first vestrymen at St Mark's Church, Wellington; and choirmaster 1877-1878, 1891, and when needed. (See photograph album "St Marks' Parish", PA1-o-453, p 19). Married Anna (d 1919), daughter of William Packard. Died in Feb 1937 and buried in family plot in Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington. Obituary in Dominion 1 Mar 1937, p 10. Lived in Khandallah. Client of photographer Robert Percy Moore

Description: Panoramic view of a single-storeyed wooden house, return verandahs, finials over gables, iron roof. An unidentified man and woman are standing on the verandah. Lawns, flower beds, shrubs including rhododendrons and a gravel pathway leading up from the centre of the image. Summer house at the back of the lawn on the left and a high hedge separates the section from the property on the left. Power pylon on the right with a road sign reading "School". The front cover shows a steam train engine and coal carriage.
