Rutherford, Andrew William, 1842-1918

Runholder, sheep breeder, politician. In partnership with his brother William and with Alfred Domett in the purchase of a run which was named Mendip Hills by Domett. The Rutherford brothers bought out Domett when he retired to England in 1871, and later Andrew purchased William's share. See the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography, Vol 3, 1996, page 452, R36. Sent telegram from Christchurch in 1906.
